A Photographer’s MISSION TO PORTRAY AGELESS BEAUTY

Over the past 7 years, award-winning photographer Angelika Buettner has captured tasteful nude photography of 121 women aged 40 to 99 years old with the goal of empowering women and portraying ageless authentic beauty.

During her career as a professional beauty and fashion photographer, Angelika has seen the lack of mature women being represented in the industry and how stereotypes about aging and beauty are still very much present today.

Angelika uses her camera as a therapeutic tool and instrument of social commentary. Her book celebrates women over the age of 40 and lets their voices be heard through essays, quotes and poems about their personal journeys. She spotlights her subjects’ inner un-retouched beauty without ignoring their sensuality.

Marilyn Monroe’s iconic song ‘Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend’ comes to mind when looking at a dazzling piece of jewelry. In fact, exquisite jewelry can enhance your beauty as well as accessorize your wardrobe. Just adding a stunning necklace to a plain black dress gives you an entirely new look. Likewise, the pairing of jeans and a blouse or sweater with an intriguing pair of earrings and/or necklace immediately upgrades that style for an evening out.

What Is A Positive Image and Why Is It Important?

Determined by your appearance, your behavior, your character and the way you communicate, your image can make or break you. It’s the whole you. Your image follows you into your professional and personal life. So you better make it an excellent one.

Think of personal branding and how you would like to be perceived by people around you. When we meet a person our first impression of that person is formed within seconds and that image will stay in our mind. Believe it or not, you are on a virtual stage every day, being observed, listened to and judged. I am not talking about a higher power but about regular people who may have an influence on your success in life one day.

A positive image should come natural and be a permanent fixture. You can’t fake it but you can invest in yourself and evolve to become the person everybody wants to know, work with and keep in their life.

So how do you know what your image is? You could ask friends and family members but the results may not be ideal because they may be biased, afraid to tell you the truth or they themselves don’t have a good image and lead you astray. If you have personal or professional relationship issues, which repeat themselves over and over, it may be a sign of a flawed image. What people perceive when they encounter you may turn them off and therefore you may be unable to establish good relationships or get the jobs you want.

Today’s world is highly competitive. You have to stand out. In order to get the attention you need to be successful, personally and professionally, you must have an impeccable image and present yourself accordingly. Everybody wants to be around or hire a person with a positive and polished image. It just ups their value, too having a person like this in their life or work environment.

If you don’t currently have the kind of image people admire, it’s not too late to turn it around. Trust me, we all can change and evolve and become awesome. It’s just a matter of the right mindset and commitment as well as admitting to ourselves that we need some help in that department. Being honest with ourself about our shortcomings is the first step to improvement. I am not the person I was five years ago. I constantly work on myself and I even reinvented myself professionally.

Take a good look at your life and the people in it. Are these close relationships an asset or do they drag you and your image down? You are whom you associate with.

“You are the average of the five people you spend most of your time with.”

- Jim Rohn

Your image follows you through your entire life. Make sure it’s a good one!
